McGill University is on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. We acknowledge and thank the diverse Indigenous peoples whose presence marks this territory on which peoples of the world now gather. They are the stewards of this land, as well as of the surrounding land and waters. We recognize their rights, the destructive forces of colonialism that took this land from them, our role as settlers on this land, and the responsibility we have as a community in resisting colonialism and its impact today.
